Investor’s First Deal Jitters
First time investor Simone went to Grant’s Cash Flow Apartments Seminar joined Grant Hoey’s Auckland apartment mentoring program. Simone spent most of her initial months learning as much as she could about investing, trading and the intricacies of the apartment market.
Midway through 2016 and with first time jitters Simone took on her first project under the guidance of her mentor, Grant Hoey. The apartment was in the Imperial Apartments block on Hobson Street in the city centre and while it was a straightforward renovation the sale proved a little challenging due to the presence of an empty lot in front of the building. It took six weeks to sell and while that’s not a long time it appeared so due to her mentoring peers buying and selling within a week or two! The wait was worth it; Simone’s gain was $76,000 (pre tax).
“Grant is a very good calm mentor who takes all your first deal jitters in his stride and provides invaluable advice regarding the sale and renovation which is very comforting for a newbie to the apartment market and is very good to bounce ideas and figures off.”
